Trying to get that FAT rear tire look on an Evo can be time consuming and expensive. Especially if your going to build your motor. I've been using a 150 tire for a few years now and am starting to think it was all a big mistake or hard lesson learned especially f you don't have a lot of extra cash... When going to a wider rear tire you have to think about belt rub and how to correct it. There are a couple of ways to do this, naturally a wide tire rear kit with a wider swing arm and fender is probably the best way to so that you can still use the original 1 1/2" belt but your looking at 3k for that upgrade... Going to a thinner belt is not always the best way to go either. Unfortunately I snapped 2, 1" belts trying to achieve the "LOOK".... Then there's the chain, another option and if your new to chain's make sure you don't use an Aluminum rear sprocket (with a built motor) the teeth will stretch and ruin the chain. So there was another good chunk of money down the drain.. I tried another chain but finally got tired of the maintenance and adjusting so I decide to go back to a belt. But now I'm thinking that I've always used a 140mm tire with the original setup of an 1 1/2" belt so why should I bother to keep blowing money on 10 millimeters? With the 1 1/2" belt I know it can handle a lot of power, so why bother? As it sit's now it looks like a tire is cheaper than a complete secondary drive especially when comes to the aggravation of it all... So "Back to Future Marty"
I hope this will help someone who's thinking of going this route. through my experience I really don't believe it's worth the time or money.... I guess the only bigger is better is when it come to breast enlargement but then again is it really?
Lets see if this thread takes off. I have considered this myself. But for the reasons you mentioned never was serious about it. Plus some techs I know have bikes that are a revolving work order in the shop because of poorly considered changes such as these. Good for them, make lots of money bad for the owners. However there are many customizers out there that do this all the time without issue, so it can be done but you are talking big $$'s to access those skills.
Should of bought a Road King, only took 1 washer and clearancing the brake caliper bracket to get a 150 on it. Could of used all that cash to get the lady on back of the bike implants but no one would be looking at the bike then.

Can always count on you bagger...... Thanx..... The look thing is ok as long as they don't touch... I know a couple guys that did pay for the implants and next thing you know she's gone....

Will this work on a '96 frame? I thought a 140 was the widest I could run without changing belts etc. I'd like to run wider tires front and back really. Thanks
I learned when to stop on the bikes from a 64 Malibu SS. Way to much money and aggravation went into that car. It was time for a change anyway and sent the SS to a friend in Arizona for an auction.
Went back to bikes but learned to be more selective on projects.
Uh Most of the time
And to be honest if I had it to do again ahh There's not much I'd change I don't think

Get thinking about it that usually happens, know a few of those situations.
