Needing some help
Agreed. I experienced very similar symptoms on my '89 when I first got it several years ago. The solution was to junk the original butterfly carb, compliance fittings etc. and replace with a used CV carb and manifold. It was the first mod I made. I have since upgraded to a new Wood-built CV, but that old used CV carb gave me several years of service.
So the consensus that I am seeing is that the Keihin carb is likely the cause of this. So I may as well go ahead and switch this out. Question now is what challenges can I expect or might I see converting to Keihin CV
And again I do thank everyone for the assistance with this

An S&S will solve all your carburetor problems.
I had to wait for someone else to say it first in honor of Beemervet!!!!
