Default Ultima carbs, opinions needed.

So recently I picked up an 01 Electra Glide TC88 for a decent price, it runs and rides great, apparently the previous owner had installed 10:1 compression pistons along with a few other goodies. However I am not impressed with the Ultima carb that it came with it. Does anyone here have any experience with these carbs? Any information or experience's is helpful, also I am considering removing the stock carb off of my totaled 98 superglide and installing it on the Electra Glide since that carb has always been very dependable and all around in better shape in my opinion. However I'd also like others opinions on swapping the Ultima out, pros? Cons? Advice. I oy have a short amount of time to make the decision before selling the bike to a parts dealer so any help would be appreciated.

It's a modified S&S. Some love them, others don't. Had one (Super E) on a Sporty, bike never ran right.
CV40 from your 98 would be an improvement
Mik 42 would be a BIG improvement
If you wanna tinker with it click HERE

Thank you, I appreciate the help. I'll probably end up swapping the carbs out later and seeing how it runs, something just isn't quite right about this Ultima set up, when you roll on the throttle all is well, but I can feel it subtlety hiccupping under steady throttle.

It could be something as simple as a manifold air leak, or a jetting issue. Maybe invest a little time, adjust and see where it gets you..
Good luck

So, I finally had time to tear into it a bit tonight and discovered I can't but my CV40 back on it, apparently the ultima has a different style intake that comes in the kit and the carb is bolted to the intake, since I don't have the stock intake I decided to tinker with it and see how it goes from there. The past week during my daily work commute (76-80 miles depending on route) it used almost as much gas as my 04 Silverado 4x4 ($10 per day 87 Oct in truck 93 Oct in bike) so hopefully it helps, I'll get back on here and give an update after I've ridden it a bit and let you know how it goes.

Spike if you have the old throttle body Carib, these carbs preform fantastic if you do some mods on them. Pull the plug, and instert a air/fuel mixture adjustment screw. Then pull the bowl and change your slow, and fast(main) jet. Believe me they will surprise you,and save $$$ too.

So after fine tuning it a bit it seemed to idle better and more stable, took the 36 mile ride to work and let it sit running on its kickstand for 5 min so, but as a soon as I stood it up it died....it doesn't seem like this carb wants to stay where you put it. All in all I'm ready to order a factory intake and slap the CV40 on it. Even with the 10:1 kit in it the CV40 should be more than capable of handling it.

Spike, sell it and move on. CV40 is a decent carb, it just doesn't flow all that well, still...a good carb.
If you've got the funds, go for the Mik 42. Set up right, nothing comes near it, drive-ability or flat out performance
...my opinion
