HOT engine oil!!!
With the oil tank being right under my right leg on my 88 FLHTC I have noticed that it feels much hotter than usual. I checked the oil level and it was with in the marks on the dip stick. I do have a temp gauge on the dip stick but not sure how accurate it is since the glass is cracked. It's been reading 200-225.
Tonight the wife and I went for a ride and grabbed a quick bite to eat. As we got home and stopped so she could get off the oil light came on, a quick turn of the throttle and the light goes off, but comes back on a few seconds later as the bike idles. I've been riding to work every day for the last 2 weeks and it's never done this. Now my ride to work is 11 miles one way. Then it sits and I ride home. We put around 40 miles round trip on our ride tonight with only about a hour of the bike sitting.
I have added a Wimmer air cleaner kit, re jetted the carb and added lower fairings recently. I'm 1K from needing a oil change. I do this ever 3K. Hopefully someone can tell me what's going on.

I have a fuel pack 3 on my Slim an I was looking at the "sensor readings" screen tonight...the dip stick gauge said 190, the sensor said 230...I don't know how accurate either is...I'm thinking about getting a laser temp reader to take temps of the oil an cyl heads.
Lowers will definitely make the engine run hotter because you’re blocking some air flow. Back in the day, a lot of my riding buddies would remove the lowers in warm weather for that reason.

Leaner will make the motor run hotter and a bit richer will help with cooling.
As mentioned lowers will make your bike run hotter in the summer.
Originally I jetted up to 185 and 48. This is what was recommended and came with the CV Performance kit. After running this setup a week. The plugs were black, was getting a little black smoke and a gas smell from the exhaust. I have 180 and 46 in it now. No smoke, smell or black plugs.
I think you're perfectly fine. Adding lowers will make it feel hotter as the ambient air flows through the cylinders and becomes warm rising into your leg. Have the same effect when I put my lowers on. I have an oil cooler, so my bike normally runs below 200 most of the time. Again, that is from the oil bag dipstick, which doe not really measure the hottest part of the oil. Temp range between 180-225 is acceptable and actually preferred.
The only thing that I would be worried about is the engine oil light coming up. You probably need to check that to ensure you have sufficient oil pressure.

a cheap check for oil pressure to put your mind at ease....local autozone etc etc..get a cheap oil pressure gauge ( it comes with the correct fittings) unscrew your pressure gauge, hook up the automotive gauge and get your pressure from there..then you know.

Of course you meant pressure switch.
Went up a size in the carb jets, removed the vents on the lower fairings and changer the oil in the bike. Went with a little heavier weight oil. Put 40 miles on it. The oil pan still fells warm under my right leg but not nearly as hot as before. No oil light at idle either. Hopefully this fixed the issue.
Still not sure of the oil pressure. The gauge is pegged as soon as the bike starts and stays like that no matter the RPM's. Have a replacement gauge coming.
