Default Another Re-Do 1996 Ultra Classic

So, figured I would start a new thread instead of piggybacking the '89 re-do thread.

Picked this thing up at Auction for peanuts with the plan to just clean it up and flip the bike. Well, that plan went out the window once I rode it to work one day and kinda fell in love. Its the 1st bike out of about 30 that I have owned that has Fuel Injection.

It had about every chrome add on I think the catalog had for it when I picked it up......and flames. Not cool.

2017 Street Glide seat that Im modifying the front mount on. Quick detach kit will be here today for the tourpack and I have a set of 12" bagger apes sitting in the garage that will go on next. Im also gonna fab a bracket to mount the radio antenna off the rear. I just threw plasti dip over the flames quickly to hide them. I'll sand down the bag lowers and get them re-cleared soon.

Not sure anyone cares but, still going on this old '96.

Installed Daymakers and a new shield at the end of Summer.

Now that its winter I wanted to get the bagger apes on, replace some speakers, re-do the power outlet, add some progressive springs, and got a new saddlemen step up seat for it.

Only problem is.....Saddlemen doesnt make a seat for a '96....so.........I tore apart a brand new $500 seat and did a little work on the pan with a heat gun and got it to fit nicely. Next step will be to do a small split in the foam in front of the gel insert and get it to lay correctly on the pan. I'll do some foam filler in the crack and rivet in a new front mount to work with the '96 style mount. Final assembly will be re- riveting on the cover. There is plenty of material to work with on the nose to handle the new slope of the seat.

I'll update as I wrap it up.

Takes some nerves of steel to tear into a seat like that! Well done!

Very nice find on the bike, and nice job on the mods. This is what I love about Evo's, you can pick them up cheap and have fun working on them. What other mod's do you have planned?
