I appreciate your advice. I understand that spark doesnt control air fuel however the timing of the spark i know can affect the mixture and exhaust. (pre- post ignition) I sprayed directly around both sides of heads on engine and found no change in idle.
I dont think its been adjusted since 2004 when my Grandfather added the mods. I highly doubt they would do all that upgrading dyno testing with a leaky intake. Im assuming whatever is happening has happened recently.
ok, I was also told that the reason my rear plug is fouling early was that reason. Do you agree? How big of a deal is this intake? Is that just the gasket on the carb to air cleaner?
What kind of fouling ? oily wet or black soot ? Wet means you are pushing oil, rings or a valve guide, dry is running too rich but that would hit both plugs not just the rear.
Look for an intake leak on the front then and unless you run true duals the left side pipe will always be cleaner, just the nature of the flow dynamics.
I had a similar issue years back on an old evo- nothing to do with exhaust. Turned out my plug wires were firing intermittantly on the rear cyl- when it fired the plug- the cylinder was already loaded with extra fuel from the last intake stroke when it didnt fire the plug. Ended up with one sooty plug- the other clean. Changed plug wires with accel ones 10 years ago- never had the issue again. Just an idea.
