I’m hoping someone can tell me where the bike end of the ground cable is located. Had the battery tray and cables off doing rear brakes. Son in law moved the bike to help and cable caught in wheel and pulled the end off.
on my 85 the main ground wire is attached to one of the bolts holding the starter on the inner primary. there is also a ground wire attached to the back of the inner primary cover and that is attached to the frame cross brace under the motor/ trans.
the flat bracket under the trans is the place the engine gets the extra ground because its rubber mounted, and the bottom center lower primary bolt is the other end - its a braded flat cable and its filthy
usually one or the other end of it is loose - take it off completely clean it and put new nuts bolts washers and elastic lock nuts of it so it does not do that again > become loose
