Ram jet comes in tomorrow. As well as new James gaskets and flanges Incase the ram jet install goes south.

I want to put a thin bead of silicone between the flat gaskets and head/manifold to ensure a good seal. Will high heat RTV be ok?

Or is there something better that’s easy to find?

read about that. Not for metal. And it’s a bonding agent for permanent things.

I am no stranger to the stuff, it absolutely works
It works VERY well for metal.
I use it all the time for various projects.
It is a waterproofing agent for boats under the water line.
I once removed a 1500 lb keel from a sailboat that they had used 5200 for sealer.
It took me all day with it hanging in the sling!
I wedge it, and beat it for hours.
When it finally let loose it took parts of the keelson with it.
Trust me on this one, try it you will not ever go back.

That sounds amazing. But I don’t think I need that for the manifold? I want to be able to remove it easily need be.

No silicone. I never had an issue with air leaks. I replaced the RammJett gaskets (dry) only because of having to replace the base gasket on a cylinders, and head gasket on the other cylider. No problems.
Edit: I was able to re-use the gaskets I cut when I replaced my fwd head gasket. I use Permatex High Tack Gasket Sealant #80062 on most every thing on the engine. If I had to use anything on the intake, I would use this stuff. It does not dry, and can be removed with naptha----------------------------RJ

im seeing a few different materials at the auto parts store for gaskets. Definetley don’t want to use cork. I guess just regular gasket material from FelPro?

I have a can of 80064. Same description of 80062 just in a spray can. Yes? No?
