If I had to use anything on the intake, I would use this stuff. It does not dry, and can be removed with naptha----------------------------RJ
what thickness of material did you use?

.030 - .040" thick. Install the manifold cold first with-out anything and see the amount of play, and go from there. Everything will expand and squeeze with heat, The old compliance fitting torque is 60 inch lbs.; I torqued the manifold to the heads to that value, then snugged it a little more. About 1/8 - 1/4 turn. When it feels tight, stop.--------------------RJ

I prefer the brush applicator myself. Thicker, easier to control, and puts it only where I want it. I don't have experience with that particular spray. If it has the 500F degree rating, non-drying properties, and oil/fuel resistances, it should work.-------------RJ

I don’t know why I’m excited to get home and make some gaskets and install this thing...lol

i installed it cold without gaskets yesterday and didn’t have any gaps when snugged down. Didn’t torque it just yet.

Will this work? doesnt have a temp rating...1/32 thick.

I dunno. Ram jet w gaskets installed. If I soak the front flange w carb cleaner it will stall but I gotta really be spraying it for a few seconds. With propane and a small hose I get nothin. I’m thinking the carb is just sucking in the fumes that the carb cleaner makes when it hits the heads.

I also have the James blue gaskets and new flanges if this fails. But I don’t understand why it would?

On the high-way if you have any back-fire when decelerating throttle closed, you may have an intake leak. Run it for awhile and pull the plugs to check how they are burning. If it starts, and runs smooth, enjoy your ride. If it is idling rough, back-firing, or you're sure of an intake leak, you can try the permitex, or thicker gasket material. I have had no issues, but your the best judge of whether your ride is ok or not. I like to wrench on my bikes, but I like riding more, good luck----------------------------------RJ

i have an AFR gauge and seems to be running well. Idles pretty smooth. I don’t know why when I spray a lot of carb cleaner it’ll stall. But by that point I can smell the vapor and it may be getting sucked in the carb.

The good part is you can remove it with-out scraping alot of old sealant off, and inspect your gasket. It should have an imprint of the mating surfaces. Or ride it--------------------------------RJ

screw it. I can get it to stall w brake cleaner and carb cleaner but gotta spray a lot. But not with propane. So the hell w it. Ima ride it and if it runs great so be it. It already idles better and now my Acc pump actually makes a difference. I got it adjust spot on. Before no matter now much I have it it would pop when I snap throttle hard. Now she just revs on up.

Did a new test to make sure I wasn’t sucking in vapor, cuz I’m just obesessed like that. Pointed a fan on low at carb from about 6 feet away. Soaked the gaskets w brake cleaner and nothing happened. Guess I was sucking in all those fumes through carb when they hit head and vaporized.

As as far as tightening the manifold down I just went far as I could till they were tight. W a regular wrench.

Indont have a torque wrench at the moment. Nor do I see how to get to the hex bolts w a socket or a crows foot.
