Default Blinker switch 91 FXR

I got some cheap rear tail lights off fleabay and I'm about to hook them up, they came with two wires. The front blinkers light up but don't blink when you hit the turn signals, maybe it's because the rears are disconnected I don't know. Previous owner ripped out the wiring so I can't even tell where I'm supposed to wire these lights too. I have a service manual on it's way but it hasn't arrived. Any help would be appreciated.

That will be difficult for us until you know what wiring you have left! If the PO removed the lights he may also have removed the flasher unit. That is a large black box roughly the size of a pack of cigarettes, probably under one of your side covers.

I'm afraid you may be correct. I pulled the side cover and don't see the flasher unit which is why I asked. It could however be the bad lighting I had last night when I popped the cover. Like I said, when you hit the signal the light lights up but doesn't flash. If it's just a flasher that will be an easy fix. My service manual doesn't arrive until next week so I'm relying on the web and apparently EVO's are the new Model T's in 2018. !!

IIRC, a '91 FXR would have an automotive style (little round metal) blinker unit tucked inside the headlight can.

Check this info from the HD Service Info Portal. It has a section on the turn signal canceller (Page 14) and all the wiring diagrams.

Did you get the blinker fluid reservoir to go with it?

It's worth checking a parts website!

Of course what it actually has is another matter.....

If the rear turn signals are missing, it's likely there's not enough load on the system to make the signals flash. Mine is even touchy as to what bulbs I use. If the circuit doesn't draw enough current, the flasher won't work.

Depending on the lights you bought your bike used the body for ground originally so the original lights only had 1 wire (turn only, no running light).
The newer bikes and lights use an actual ground wire you have to run and connect under the seat. The connections for the turns are under the seat too.
The right turn is brown
The left turn is violet
