Difference between inner primary?
Hey guys. So I'm switcing to mids on my '93 Dyna and to do so I need a new inner primary housing with the drilled hole for shifter rod. Found a 94 inner primary for a decent price, but kind of worried that it might not fit my bike? From I understand the inner primarys between 89-93 interchange and 94-98 interchange, but that does not make any sence since it's the same motor, tranny and starter from 91-98?? Anyone know this for sure?? Got everything dismantled now, just need to know if it fits before I pull the trigger on the new primary. Thanks!
check this out for years and part numbers.....

Thanks.. Think there's a misprint on the '93 sketch for FXDL there. It shows a WG print, without shifter rod assembly/hole in inner primary. The partnumber is 60616-90 though, which is different from 94-98 inner primary (60691-94A).
Ok... So I THINK I got the answer.. Apparently there's a difference in the size of the starter jack shaft, where's 93 and down have a bigger size than the 94 and up. So basically, as long as I change out to a smaller size I should be good. Anyone confirm?

I'm afraid the rabbit hole goes a little deeper... The jackshaft seems to run in the outer cover. Also, the jackshafts central bolts and treads differ from each other creating some problems on the starter as well
Watch that jackshaft by the way. Pulling the shaft manually far enough will actuate the starter. Really only work on it with a disconnected lead. But I'm sure you knew that
