The Cheap azz Chiwanese kicker "stuff" has never been reliable... I have refused to use it for years... Decades even...
Baker... or O.E. if a 4-speed type.. adapted..
BTW The Cheapo Sportster stuff is Just as bad...

For a kick-only bike, you're going to want the good stuff. The LedSled I put on my Sporty was 4x the money of the Chaiwan units, but worth it imho. Even then, I left the compression stock so as to not put any additional stress on the system.

Installed a lot of those kits way back when and most had these issues sooner or later if they were used regular. Only Bakers is rock solid but it isn't cheap.
I had the Billet Bilt which is built like a vault and has two bushings. That extension spud kills the concept of having a kicker. They varied in quality. The external thread on the spud would pop off. Even if you get a good one you'll never have peace of mind. Maybe they are better now but that is what I dealt with long ago. A full length mainshaft is the real solution.

Stevo, we can go round in circles with this one, but unfortunately a solution doesn't seem likely with that particular conversion. I suggest you start crowd funding for a decent replacement!

Hopefully if you bought or built a bike with those kinds of mods then you have the backup support of an indie shop or mechanic that can advise you on what to do with the problem OR steer you in the direction of a new or decent quality used kicker setup for a "bail me out" price. I sincerely hope you get it resolved properly.

Most of the 5 speed kickers were junk...while baker is king...they did make a few that included a new main-shaft and did not have the bolt on extension...

A few pics of what you have would help...as sputhe also made a 5 speed in a 4 speed case...which changes everything...
