My bike sat for years. Then wouldn't run right. Barely made it home after it warmed up. I'm not a carb guy, but tore it apart and there was a crack in the diaphram on the account pump.

If the CV was not bought already rebuilt, buy a rebuild kit (gaskets, accel pump diaphram...) and tear it down, clean it up, and rebuild it. It probably needs done if you don't know the history of the carb.

And, I agree on using the sportster needle.
