Jims makes some great tools- but i got my pulley nut socket from "Georges Garage". Great choice for tools and less expensive.

I'm gonna make one...does anyone know what the overall length of the socket is? I'm not at the bike right now to mock up pulley on mainshaft and measure

I've seen posts here or elsewhere that show homemade pulley sprocket tools. You might find one and save a bunch of time making it. The pulley sprocket tool I have has a bushing that spins onto the end of the shaft and holds the socket at 90 degrees to the nut so you don't pull it down and wreck the nut or shaft. It is also squared off on the nut end for full engagement. The nut is pretty thin.

Thanks for the info! I measured yesterday and got the material and socket to make it, now just to actually make it. Cutting the socket is going to be the hardest part lol

I provided an example of that right in this thread, post #22. Note the minor mistake in that persons homemade socket. He should have used a 6-point socket.

One issue with making your own socket as Carl alluded to, is that you can't easily make the inner collar or threaded nut. You can purchase that here if you like.

Damn I never even thought of that! A bushing inside....hmmm...what about a bunch of washers the right od to fit inside the socket and id to go over the shaft stacked together???

Also, I'm not at the computer to look at my manual, but what's the torque on the sprocket nut?? I didnt think it was much over 50ft/lbs but feel like ik way off with my guess at the moment

My 1993 service manual says 110-120 ft/lbs for the sprocket nut.

tighten the nut to 50ft-lbs
Tighten the transmission sprocket nut an additional 30°- 40°.

UPDATE

All back together, STILL LEAKS LIKE I NEVER EVEN TOUCHED IT....I am beyond frustrated...I know my mechanical capabilities, and this was not beyond it in the slightest (I've built 5 engines for drag cars, automatic and manual transmissions, as well as the car surrounding the engines). I'm pretty ticked...part of me wants to take it to a mechanic even though I dont ever have someone else fix my stuff, but I feel like it would be somewhat of a waste if I changed everything to new and followed the manual to a T, what are they going to do differently?

On top of that, bike has a scary front end wobble at 60mph and the starter only catches sometimes now since putting it back together....I love my luck
