I keep my 86 at 5-10 psi. You may also want to replace the fork oil if it's been a while. There's a great thread here by Dr. Hess to explain an easy way to do it.Just did mine today.
Before you change the fork oil, pump them up and see if they stay up for a couple weeks. Mine had an air leak that got worse over the years and I finally had to pull the dash, replace the o-rings on the fork caps. They make an aftermarket kit with those o-rings, banjo bolt seals, etc.
Also, (my opinion) avoid high performance heavy weight fork oil. I used 20W once and took it out after one afternoon of riding. The correct oil is HD fork oil Type "E" for yours. You won't believe how much better the ride/handling with fresh fork oil, especially if it's been a while since it was changed.
If you don't find the other thread - remove the schrader valve from the crash bar, connect vacuum from a hand or electric pump or a hose from a running vehicle and with a another hose in the oil bottle, suck the oil in thru the drain holes (one at a time). Only takes a few minutes to change it that way.
