If that's a lip a 1/4" in on the front pulley... Hell no. The rear is almost gone also.. Might as well go to a 32/70 along with that new belt.... What year make and model..? How many miles....? By the way, there PULLEY's....

I figured the sprocket thing would get someone fired up. It’s on a 98 road king. It’s all back together. With new pulleys. Or is it sprockets. I’m so confused.

What state is your belt? If you are using a new one I would also use new pulleys. Don't be confused, there's a good chap!

Mine don't look anywhere NEAR what those do, and my belt broke 2 weeks ago. I'm still puzzled.

I've owned belt drive Harleys since 1990 and currently own three of 'em, all from new. While I've had the good fortune to never have one break, a pal of mine had the belt on his new Buell Firebolt break the day he took delivery of it from the dealer - within about 30 miles. So somewhere between those two extremes lies the life expectancy of a Harley belt. Be assured however that around HDF there are owners who have had over 100k miles out of theirs. In the case of our Evos the original belt could have deteriorated through age and low use. The only one I have felt I HAD to replace had stone damage, although I rode with it for around 4k miles and only replaced it prior to setting off on a long Continental trip with Mrs B.

So if your belt is original don't be puzzled! Also be assured that life expectancy for new belts is jolly good.

This particular bike has close to 100,000 on it. We bought it second hand, so not sure if belt and sprockets were original, but that would be my guess. I had everything tore down to install a different motor, so it wasn’t much more to replace everything. Plus they were shot. Who knows how much longer it would have went.
