I think when you were checking your connections, you wiggled a harness and when the harness moved it "fixed" the short temporarily. Once the wiring harness settles back again, it will short again

Cam position sensor is melting the brown goo out down the wires. However the bike is running great and no blowing fuses. Im gonna replace it anyways....mileage and years.
No codes and everything is checking out ok by using the breakout box.
Could this failing sensor cause the ignition fuse to blow?
On Amazon you can hey a CPS made by standard Motor Products it's a direct replacement with Deutsch pins.. Real easy to do, right into your connector. part number it's MC-SPA3. There like $40..
Melting....,
Got one ordered.....on amazon. The new one appears to not have that brown goo. I suppose the electronics have probably improved since 1998.

Amazon lost the cam position somewhere in shipping...so theyre sending another one.
Meantime.....I replaced the starter and on/off switches. I figured it might help because the starter will do the click click or do nothing at all sometimes.
Anyways, it only blows the fuse when I hit the starter button on the handlebars. It doesnt matter if the switch housings are screwed down or not.
I can start the bike with the button on the starter and it works fine.
