Default 1995 Dyna Wide Glide

I've got a 1995 Dyna Wide Glide and just replaced the battery. It keeps going dead after riding. How can I trouble shoot? What is the most likely problem?

I was going to try to explain but I found this article that explains it better than I could.

You should try posting in one of the tech areas. Unless you think your problem is bullsh**, because that's the section you're in.

The tech sections mostly get a thin response to queries, often getting no replies at all. There's no harm in asking in here, as there may be model specific problems to resolve.

It could be that your charging system is not working while you ride. There is a Sticky at the top of this Evo section, entitled "How To Diagnose Your Charging System". Work your way through that and report back on what you find. You will need a multimeter.

There's a "sticky" up above this thread.
"How to diagnose a charging system."
Go there.

As mentioned, if you follow the steps in the post (link above), you will get your charging system issue figured out. With the evos, a common but simple issue is the connection point where the voltage regulator plugs into the engine block. That connection point has a habit of coming loose, and the brass connectors heat up and melt. Sometimes hard to see without disconnecting it a really looking closely at both connectors. YD

Or just the voltage regulator itself, but it needs to be diagnosed, not just throwing parts at it.

As mentioned follow the diagnosis procedure in the sticky.
It's easy and will tell you exactly where your issue lies.
When I had a problem it was the Voltage Regulator and not the Stator.
