What to do?
Then if it were me, I'd cut the old ones out with bolt cutters (no chips/dust that way), put the new cam in with the old lifters and new easy push rods from a quality maker, like S&S, and call it good.
I've never run an S&S carb but a lot of people love them. I am a big fan of a CV over the butterfly carburetor. The original ('87) was good to me, always started even in freezing weather - never a problem, but with a CV, I have a LOT better throttle/power and went from 32 mpg to 48 mpg with no other changes to the engine at the time. Yes, really!
EV27 is about good as it gets for most people. I've wondered lately why so many on here these days recommend sticking with stock push rods but after seeing the prices they charge for them and the lack of choices I'm catching on
Also, you gotta be careful to get the quickie/fully adjustable ones. If you end up with simply "adjustable" ones, you've wasted money since you have to pull the rockers for them. Stock are quieter in most cases but there are a few tricks to make the adjustable ones tolerable.
Plus if the heads don't need to come off and the boxes are dry and aligned, best to leave them be. Just my 2 cents on that.

I went back to solid pushrods after the second time one came loose. Only wrecked a lifter, could have been worse, but I heard it both times as soon as they came loose and was in a spot to shut it down.
Don`t keep the old lifters, those are an old design that had problems with the roller bearings coming apart, they were upgraded in the mid `90s.
