Hi, My 1986 Heritage (Bought it new in 86) is constantly giving me the same problem. The front brake light switch actuator keeps slipping out of place and the brake light stays on. I have tried everything, had it apart hundreds of times, just rebuilt the master cylinder, align the actuator over and over and it slips off the brake light switch. Is there any modification or change I can do. driving me nuts.Help!!! Thanks
Take it off (remove it from the equation) and just rely on your rear brake switch to do the job.
In some places, certainly here in the UK, that isn't an option - two brake light stitches good - two working switches compulsory! There has to be a solution for P2000, so let's keep our thinking caps on.
I would start with a new PIN and switch. 45031-82a and 45051-82.... They might be hard to find but Google might help and always check the dealer maybe they can find one some where in the system.

If you are tired of fooling with it...a banjo bolt switch will solve the problem....
Had the same problem. Found that the lever that pushes the button on the “normally on” switch was slightly bent and sliding off the button. Loosened the throttle and took a pair of needle nose pliers and bent the end of the lever so it could only slip to the down and not up where it can slide off the switch. I know this sounds complicated but once you study the dumb idea the Harley had you will figure it out. I’ve put up with this problem for years off trying too fix it permanently. Now the brake light works better than it ever has.
