Default Mylar gaskets

I'm rebuilding my oil pump and ordered gaskets from Parts Giant, a forum sponsor. Don't know what possessed me to order the mylar gasket set, but they arrived today. Sure look good but seem slippery as hell. I usually use Permatex High tack gasket sealant on all my gaskets before installation but have no clue if it would work with these mylar gaskets. Anyone have any experience with these?

Spray them if it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling, otherwise just bolt it together.

Default warm and fuzzy

Thanks Dr. Hess. I usually use it primarily to keep gaskets from shifting during assembly. With the oil pump going back together in 2 parts just thought it might help keep things from sliding around.

That's the same combo I've been using on shovels for decades, works just fine. The High tack spray is good stuff for a light thin sealer, give it a coat, let it tack up a bit and install.

Cool

Mylar? Crikey, that takes me back. When I started out as a young engineer we still had technical drawings on linen sheet and 'blue prints'. Then the new wonder material came out - mylar! That was over 50 years ago....
