Gasket sealer yes or no
Had an oil leak coming from the trap door gasket on my transmission. Getting ready to install the gasket and wondering what type sealer to use, or not use any at all.

Not that I am contradicting our Kiwi expert but I use "the magic" on all gaskets. Permatex Anaerobic gasket maker, it's red jelly and it works on gaskets like magic hence the name. I rarely buy new gaskets, I spread the magic and reuse the older ones to great success.

Anaerobic for re using an old gasket but the new ones seem fine going on dry IMO.

I generally do not use it on my Harley because after vibes loosen bolts the gasket and part stays in place and you lose bolt. I use leaks to tell me where I need to address.
