Help Me Figure Out This Sound
The answer is....I'm not sure.
Pulled the outer primary. This being a Sportster, the throwout bearing and ball and ramp are in the primary. Anyway, got to the bearing and it looked brand new. No evidence of wear. Turned perfectly smooth.
So I sat there and noodled on it a bit. Question was do I keep going and pull the chain/clutch/etc or just put it back together and see what's what.
My natural laziness kicked in and I bolted it back up. That included a careful clutch and cable adjust, and presto! Problem solved.
At least for now.
Maybe it was just a badly misadjusted clutch. Not really sure. For now, it sounds fine, runs fine, so I'm leaving it alone.
All of which is a little embarrassing, but I've had worse.
