Default Keeping the Risers

Need some input for looks and cable placement.

The 6" risers are staying and I'll be shitcanning the bars. Right now all 5 cables from the bar are maxed out. I want to lower everything with drag bars, but I don't want to overshoot. the bars on it now are 8" and roughly 32" across. When I bought the bike it had 4" curved risers which might equal out to 2 1/2 to 3" lower then I have it now. I don't want to go with a 5" drag bar, so my question would be.

How would 3" drag bars look and will I be able to run the cables without too much slack flapping around. In a nutshell, everything would come down 5" if I went with 3" drag bars.

In the looks department the only person you have to satisfy is yourself.
Just out of curiosity why are you so set on keeping your cables instead of getting a set that fits your current bars and risers?

3” drags +6” risers might be a really good fit. will look nice. Would look faster if the risers and bars were black though

If you are going to change bars then do it right! Change cables and wiring to suit, so it looks right and works properly. You may be able to sell on what you take off.

Personally I don't mind the 8" bars on the 6" risers. I might just put everything back together, ride it a bit and if I get too much stink eye I can either swap out the 8" bars for something that is more in line with 6" risers or put in 3 1/2" pull back risers and call it good.

Clearly if keeping it current, I will need to get a 3" longer throttle cable and about the same on the clutch. How are they measured ?

If you like the set up and anyone gives you any **** about it tell them to go to hell!
God knows not everyone likes the set up on my bikes but I didn't build it for them so I don't give a damn what they think.

As for measuring the cables you measure the outer jacket.

Since you asked, personally I think tall risers with low bars look goofy. If you want tall bars do it right and put on 14" or 16" apes with straight risers. If you want drag bars then use pull back risers or T-bars. Now go do what you want just remember. It's a Harley-Davidson, don't make it look silly.
