Default Newb with a question

Hey guys. I am new to the forum. I came across this picture and wanted to know what the bike was. I posted it in the welcome page and they suggested I post it here. Especially the chain/engine cover.

Thanks for any help

At a glance (small pix on my phone with my bad eyes) it's some manner of softail Evo. Early enough that it has the three hole derby cover.

Forks look raked, too.

That is a '90 - '98 FXSTC with at least 2 over front forks.

Telltale signs:

Mechanical speedometer cable was `95 or earlier.

Fuel petcock location is `94 and earlier.

Not sure what years had the optional frame colors.

I think the guy in the pic was competing in the Tour de France.....

its a bad *** softtail from the 20th century. if its still running, someone needs to send indiana jones on a mission, because i bed MoCo could resurrect that and sell it as new cvo

The lack of a solenoid on the primary says '90 or newer.
All aftermarket tanks have the petcock in that position so I don't think you can use that to date a bike unless you know it's the stock tanks.
Good catch on the speedo cable...not sure how I missed that

I’d say 1990-1994....mainly because the speedometer went electronic in 1995. If we could zoom in on that decal on the frame, that would have lots of info on it.

Its definitely a badass looking Softail....

Speedometers didn't go electronic until 96.
