Hey brothers, I'm looking for some opinions and recommendations on a good glove for cold weather riding. Here's my thing: right hand is good, but I had severe nerve damage on my left hand, and it gets cold QUICK! My thumb, and first 2 fingers get cold and hurt, and ache like nobody's business. I'm a carpenter, and still find it hard to find good gloves.
Any recommendations would be helpful. I wanna ride this winter, the rest of me is good. LOL
I bought Fox leather gauntlets, which are good above 45.I recently slipped in the heat packets on the top side which helped down to about 40, but really don't ride much anymore in winter, I guess I'm gettin old.

Got my son some battery operated gloves las year for those very cold days (30's and below).
He says they work great when coupled with hand shields.
The gloves are labeled "Highway 21".
I got them at Antler Creek Cycle Leather.

I can tell you from riding in 20-30 degree(commute 1hr 1/2) weather that your going to have to go with a heated glove(I use First gear 12v heated gloves). I started by trying to use fly racing aurora gloves,at speed fingers got so cold couldn't hardly work controls. went to the heated electric gloves (warm and toasty) never looked back. just check sizing close. Good luck enjoy. JB
On the trips from SE Michigan to Octoberfest, where the temps in Michigan can be sub-40 degrees, I've used regular snowmobile gauntlets with cotton work gloved inside. Yes, my hands got cold. But I was still functional.
I've found that my upper thighs get the coldest when riding in sub-40 degree temps. Long Johns, jeans. chaps and still numb until it starts to warm above 40 degrees. Boots, thermal socks, and keep the bottom of your pants closed. Velcro strips or even duct tape if necessary. Wind is not your friend....
Layers. Lots of layered clothing. Protect your face. I have a nice UnderArmor pullover that works good. Helmet and eye protection.
I've never used heated riding apparel, and at my age, I don't think I will ever try it. But I can definitely see the advantages to it. A few times I left SE Michigan in sub-40 degree temps, and didn't have 'feeling' in my fingers/legs, until Lexington, KY.
I have the Harley Davidson Gerbing made heated gloves. Riding at 30 degrees, they kept my fingers warm enough to function. I don't know if they still make them for Harley. If you are lucky, you might pick one up on Craigslist.
I have a pair of Gordon's heated deer hide gloves and jacket liner. That along with a pair of flannel lined Carhartts, I can ride comfortably with temps in the low 30s.
Joe Rocket Battery powered. Used them for the last 4 winters now. Not as warm as plug in heated gloves but they do a good job and are a lot more convenient.
My best (for coldest weather) are some large mittens that I bought at an outfitter in Alaska. They look like boxing gloves. Those with a Michael Jackson type snowmobile glove liner are good for riding in 10 degrees F at 70 MPH. I try not to do that anymore.
I had Langlitz make a pair of heavy leather mittens for me several years ago. Rabbit fur liners came with them and if it gets stupid cold, Ill wear a pair of gloves inside them. They were my go to for cold weather before I broke down and got heated grips.
