My 98 Ultra EFI currently has the SE heads and the EV27 cam. It’s mainly used solo riding up and down the interstate. Works good for that...
But, when I ride 2-up and the bike is loaded with our stuff....it doesn’t do so good. It certainly does not like to climb hills. Once the RPM’s are up around 3k....it does better.
I am considering the EV13.....pretty sure it would do better on the hills. But, how would that cam do on Interstate 80mph plus.
Your at 9.5-1 compression with the SE heads, not really prime for a EV27, going to throw you a curve ball that works with the SE heads. Your heads can accept up to 575 lift cams, your cylinder pressure is slightly on the low side for heavy loads with the intake closing of the EV27 but you still want to carry longer into the rpm range where a EV13 can drop off, answer EVL5005 it is peanut butter and jelly with SE heads.
EVL5005 intake timing of 18 that will get the cylinder pressure up and keep some duration and lift to let it go longer in rpms, can tell you from experience after 5500 rpms it is dead but the EV13 is done at 4500. If you go even with a EV13 your going to have to load the 45 -50 mph roll on throttle area with fuel on your M&M because cylinder pressure is going to be higher with a earlier intake valve closing of the EV13 like wise with a EVL5005.
Think about a design, what's the purpose of running raised ports, larger valves with small lift cams and not using the design advantage of the SE heads.

Great cam!
What I’m running in the Lowrider, S&S Performance Heads, cc’d to 71.5, Mikuni carb & Thunderheader.
Bikes not quite 600lbs & I go 230lbs, so pulling some weight.
Sometimes go 2 up & that’s no problem.
Posted up some statistics of what I wound up with, as far as compression, etc.
Good Luck with your choice.
Ride Safe,
Harold

Or a different cam? Or keep what I got?
Thanks
for about 2 years now,i find it great, has the power when i want it and since i live in florida, it also runs cooler oil temps!
V-Thunder cams are over looked a lot and do perform very well.. the 3010 is a great cam for stockers.... The 5005 will do very well with your set up..
My buddy has a ev27, I have the 3010. I pull away from him every time, however my bike is lighter than his...I don't have much experience to compare other cams with the 3010, but it comes on sooner than the ev27 which is probably why I pull away from him, but I like the RPM range that the cam comes in. It's right in the range where I like to ride and can use it. YD
