Default Replace evo primary

I’m putting the primary back together on a 1988 FLST evo and I got this extra part left over. I didn’t take it apart and I can’t find my Manuel. None of the pictures I have found have this in it but it was in the box.
anyone recognize it ?

3” dia. 1” hole

3/16” thick

Looks like part of your compensator stack.

Seems like anytime I work on a car, I almost always have a bolt or two left over......I've been guilty of that

You also should check sprocket alignment, it's way off right now, #8 is the shims to set alignment, goes between the shaft extension(#20) and the spacer that was left out.
Alignment is checked by laying a straight edge across the inner primary housing gasket surface and checking depth to the chain with a caliper, push the chain back, or in, on both sprockets, and compare measurements taken close to the front and rear sprockets, spec is within .030"

Since you didn't take it apart...you need to check alignment...at one point that part was made onto the rotor...then they made it separate...they they eliminated it altogether, and made the shaft extension longer...

If the rotor /stator has been changed no telling whats in there...and checking alignment is the only cure...simple 5 minute check...

Same here, car or bike, however as left overs go that is a bit big to just set aside for the time being!

I think I got it figured out. There was a new stator installed. Thanks for the help.
Do you check alignment with everything torqued or just “tight” ?

No all use that spacer. Many, if not most aftermarket alternator rotors have a thicker "hub" that does not require that outer or an inner spacer. If the rotor has splines, it's aftermarket (and may or may not use spacers). If it's a round bore, it's likely OEM.

You can check chain alignment with the compensator nut snug. The last round or so on the nut just compresses the spring pack

Check alignment of rear and front spockets measuring off finished face of inner primary. That inner washer the front sprocket sit on is ground OD and both faces. There is an outer washer on that compensator bolt nut but that looks too big to me for that.
