Well, no worries then. Drain or suck a little engine oil out and go ride every chance you get

It may be that you haven't ridden as much in recent times? You can manage that by simply following the tips as already suggested. My Sporty, bought new, routinely does it, seems to be a Sporty thang, so I'm much more familiar with the routine now, although my Glide has never done it.

It's possible that the last time you did an oil change there was some oil sumped in the case.. And honestly I know a lot of guys don't like the the "Scavenger system" (as a lot of you mentioned in the "Purging oil thread") and not that I have one but I will crank the motor over several times for 30 seconds with the plugs out and oil filter off to make sure I got most of the oil out of the case.. it doesn't hurt anything.. but to reach their own..

And... Such cranking is unnecessary, if you warm the thing up thoroughly before oil change... should be minimal residual oil in crankcase after running it...
My '82, bought showroom new, has never had any Problems with my method... still a Nice Bike...and Never been Apart...
Oh Damn.... It's a Shovelhead!!!! Oh Well... my eldest son's '84 Softail, gets the same treatment...and may have more miles on than my Shovel!!!!!

The turkey baster is your friend when you have a dry-sump bike.

Yeah, I used one at every fuel stop, all the way from western Montana to western North Carolina one trip.

On an earlier stator and main seal replacement, used a spacer I'd dressed down (too many times). Started sucking the primary nearly dry / put it in the engine every 150 miles or so... (bottom breather engine)
