I powder coated a ton of parts but did not powder coat the bottom end or the jugs for fear of heat dissipation issues. The powder coat goes on pretty thick. Not sure it would be a problem, but also not sure it won't.
you say not to but you don't say why? TC whats your thoughts
Not thoughts experience.
It's hard to find a shop that can get a good even coating all the way to the deepest parts of the fins on the jugs and when you do they ain't cheap.
Even after you find that shop you'll have to go back and sand off the outer edges of the fins Annoying as hell IMO.
After having done it once I will never do it again. It's just isn't worth the extra trouble for me.
Paint was so much easier, way less hassle, and lasted a good long time.
must be a trick of the light no gasket surface got it and was told not to sandblast so they were glass beaded ?
FWIW no matter what the media I call it sandblasting it's just a generic term to me.
As long as they didn't hit the gasket surfaces it's all good.
You might want to check all threaded holes though.
If it was a good shop they have plugs to put in them to protect the threads while they blast and if they didn't you will have to retap the holes as the blasting will mess up the first thread or two.
