Default Cometic Copper Washer

Hey folks,

There are 8 copper washers included in the Cometic C9635 top end gasket kit I purchased recently for my '93 FLHTCU. The Cometic part number is RB02002. It's got a 5/8" OD and a 0.262 ID. It's 1/32" think. What are they for?

Thanks!

-Dave

they are for the rocker box top cover ... you can use either the copper washers or the ones with the rubber seals ... they are there to give you a choice ...

I had the same question a while back.

They are for the rocker box covers. After talking it over around here, I decided to use them. End up with three layers: Fiber washer then copper then steel on top.

I'm not convinced the coppers do anything. My bike didnt have them from the factory. I assume the idea is that the relatively soft copper will ensure evenly distributed pressure onto the fiber washers. Call it a "Can't hurt, might help" kind of thing.

I like Omaha use all three, Fiber first then copper then the steel. When using both the fiber and copper, the copper washer works as a slip washer so the steel doesn't tear the fiber washer... Plus I like the way it looks...
