The Bars are the ones I cannot ride... puts my wrists at a really bad angle.. but, if you like 'em... that is all that counts.
That front end is a bit like an old steel ... all chrome one on the eldest son's Softail.. but he has the Flush top tree... no fasteners showing..
I doubt you will have any problems whatsoever with that... but, like I said... bigger than about 4 inch trail numbers can make for heavy steering!!! Gonna be Very Stable tho, at speeds over Walking!!!!

Bob, I have a 21" front wheel from Harley, Slotted 6 Spoke in aluminum and black:

https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

Just sitting in the basement, was on my Wide Glide for a bunch of years. For 2000 and up, with a tire mounted. You could buy it from me or if you want to borrow it for mock up purposes only, just bring it back.

Thanks Bill.. that's very nice of you.. appreciate it.. I would be interested in at least moving it up to see the difference with my current rim of 19".. thanks I'll call you when the front end gets here..

Default A WG Front End on a Fatboy...

Friend of mine has a Demon Cycle Wide Glide front end that he took off of his '07 FXSTC. It's got a 3° rake and It's 2 inches over on the tubes. With the 21 inch wheel that he's letting me borrow for a little while It should put my trail right around 5.7". We'll see what happens and how it goes down the road. So I'm starting thread off with this first pic of the disassembly and will update as I go... Hopefully it'll be back on the road tonight or tomorrow..

Maybe... remember raked trees reduce trail...

Absolutely...4+
I rarely measure Trail numbers... If I like how a setup handles... I take a Note what the changes are/were... Not all of My Bikes see like same service however!!! ie, Slow Racing is Not Drag Racing!!!!!

So let me ask you, in the racing world... I'm sure speed is critical to handling up at the top end of the track and I've seen a lot of those race bikes with exaggerated rake, are you doing that to increase the trail above 6" to make sure at 160 mph you can still control the bike?

At 112 mph I get what most will call a death wobble but I can power through it but that doesn't mean I'm stable.. It's sort of like in that movie with that Australian dude that came to the salt flats to break the land speed records.. He had that death wobble which actually took him down but he was persistent and kept rebuilding to power through that.. He Finally succeeded, I think it was like the first dude to hit 200 mph on the flats (on a freaking Indian of all bikes...lol...). Anyways I'm just thinking that more trail is definitely better at high speeds and I mean 140 plus not this 100 mile an hour s*** we do on the street..

More is better for going straight, kills your ability to turn. That is the balance the manufacturers are always fighting. But big *** choppers, they go just fine at highway speed in a straight line. exit ramps, that is a different conversation.

I'm sure it is.. Don't think I can handle a 140" front end... I'm getting too f****** old...
