Also the clutch may be slipping at high load. Could just need adjustment. Make sure the hose from the engine are correctly connected.
Harley Davidson gives 1qt./ 500mi as normal on a "hot" day. What ever "hot" is.
Yes, thank you. The primary oil was at perfect level and still nice and clean from the change we did just a few weeks ago. The trans looks like it was poured in and never run its so clean. The oil in the bag however was filthy which leads me to believe we didn't get all the old oil out before adding new.
Just glad it turned out to be a dumb mistake rather than something much worse.
Now he wants to sell it and get a new 2020 Lowrider-S. i told him he will be kicking his own *** forever if he get's rid of the bike. These FXR's aren't easy to come by, especially a 91 not that it has something the others don't... In fact if anything the short block is a diaster if stroked.

I dunno... kids.
Unless you use the new oil to push out the oil in the cases you will never get all the old oil out.
My 91 has an oil hole in the case that is close to the cylinder. It limits what you can do with bore size. I believe the 91 was a year where you may or may not have that. If memory serves.
I was just reading a thread recently about purging all the oil in the Evo. I've never worried about it but it does make sense and easy enough to do.
That new Lowrider S reminds me of the old FXR Sport. If I were inclined to have a new machine that would be it.
I want to say 'Thank You" to everyone who helped me get this thing running and into my sons hands. He listed it on FB and sold it 16 hours later. He bought the new Lowrider. You guys in the EVO section are 2nd to none when it come to helping others.
Dehammer: someone will correct me here but I believe it's 1990-1992 FXR's the cases have a squared off block inside and when you stroke them it's almost 75% guaranteed you will crack the case along the tappet block. It's a weak point in those years. My bud at HillSide Cycles told me he couldn't stroke it in good conscience knowing what would happen. Told me to buy an S&S short block and he'd send me back a monster. Should have seen the kids face when he rode out of HD this weekend, smiles from ear to ear, that's what made me happy. Losing the 91 will forever haunt him but it was his to do what he wanted.
