Was it an out of the box S&S brand new?

after I thought about it for a while I changed out the old manifold o rings and put in a .0295. I was getting popping like crazy when accelerating. it turned out to be the accelerator pump adjustment....it just wasn't getting enough gas from the pump. I think the bike was running on the .031 and not relying on the pump at all because the pump wasn't helping. my fuel mileage went from 37 to 44 with the .0295.

You guys need to remember that the air fuel needle on these S&S E carbs is not just for setting the mixture... it's also a tool to gauge where the intermediate jet is. A half a turn out and your intermediate is too big.. Three turns out and your intermediate is too small... You want to be right in between one and a half to two turns That's how you gauge how you want your intermediate jet..

You are right about that, I am running 1 1/2 turns out, 900 RPM, and .0295 and 0.72 jets,, plugs are are on the darker side of brown, runs perfect,
