I had a question. I'm putting my aunts 1985 FXSB back together for her and she asked if anyone makes a windshiled setup for it? figure I'd ask around here who makes one. I looked at memphisshade but they say they dont make one. and only shows superglide on their website.
Many windshields are mounted off the fork-legs, like my Sporty H-D shield is. So I would think that any similar shield for an FXR or Dyna, with similar forks to your bike, should work. Mike's above is mounted off the handlebars, probably with a universal kit of mounting brackets. I've ridden behind various shields and fairings for most of the last five decades and have adapted them all for different brands of bike. So I'm inclined to say that your aunt should have her shield, whatever it takes, so that she can go to the ball tonight, its just a matter of sorting out a suitable one!
I suggest starting with Memphis Shades and talking to them on the phone. They can supply a variety of mounting set-ups by the look of it and with a little effort should be able to sort things out for you IMHO. Shouldn't be too much of a challenge for them! If a US specialist can't sort things out for a Harley there is no hope.....
"No matter if you ride a big-inch cruiser or a stylish street custom Memphis Shades has the perfect windshield, fairing or accessory for your bike and riding style." That's their claim, so take them up on it!
According to Wikipedia:In 1983, the Low Rider was converted from chain drive to belt drive and given the designation FXSB, at which point the FXB was discontinued. In the same year, the FXDG Disc Glide was introduced. This model had a disc-type rear wheel instead of the wire-spoked wheel of the Super Glide or the solid-spoked wheel of the Low Rider.[10]
The FXE Super Glide was discontinued in 1985, with the FXEF Fat Bob becoming the base model.[10] The 1985 FXEF was the first and last FXEF to have the Evo motor along with being the last year for the 4sp and chain drive.
In 1986, all FX-based bikes except the Wide Glide were supplanted by FXR-based bikes. The Wide Glide was discontinued the following year.[10]
So, with all that being said, I think selecting 1985 Superglide on Memphis Shade’s website will get you what you need, but it would probably be best to call them.

I did see that. didnt know if it had a wider fork. Ill have to dig a little more on my own. JPcycles says theyre sport shield will fit but didnt wanna bite when memphis says they make nothing for it which made no sense to me at all. I know the service book is softail and FX. so maybe I see about the FX super glide

I think you will find the Top/bottom mount bolts are spaced differently... farther away for newer... I Think!!
Gentlemen, at great risk to my sanity and general well-being, I have been on a voyage of discovery, seeking to get to the bottom of our windshield challenge! I could also add that over here in the UK we have record high and dangerous UV levels at present, and we are advised to stay indoors, so I'm also grateful for the opportunity to protect my health!
In summary, both the FXSB and FXR Low Rider bikes, listed on the Memphis Shades website, use the same top fork tree and the same chrome cover on the bottom tree, from which we can conclude that the fork legs are the same distance apart. So unless there is something very unusual about those two bikes, it seems reasonable to expect that a windshield and fork mounting kit for an FXR Super Glide should also fit Diesel Aunt's 1985 FXSB.
I was gonna go onto a parts fiche when I got home to check that, Thanks. Im gonna see her this weekend when she brings the paint set down. Ill show her a few on memphis it looks like the fx sportshields may work. and theyre 15 -19" from the light so it should be good coverage. And Ill order from a place with good return policy

Give her a hug from us and tell her we're concerned for her riding comfort!
