Default Fuel leak - 94 Road King

Fired up for the first time in a month, 5 mile ride to get fresh gas. Filled the tank, but not over full, and I look down to see a puddle. Figure I’m only a few miles from home to swap out a leaky 26 year old fuel line. It’s leaking from the wire surround of what I assume is the fuel gauge? Dripping 1x per second, but 30 mins later, it’s stopped and less than 2oz of fuel is in the pan on the driveway. Felt like a garden hose riding, but now it’s stopped. What gives?

Completely stopped leaking on it's own...I"m guessing 95 degree weather/bike/gas already in the tank, hitting it with 50 degree gas from the tanks below ground might have had some effect? I'll check the fuel gauge gasket just to be sure.

Could you have overfilled it, and it drained from the vent tube?

I've had that happen only once - and if I remember correctly (big if!) it was coming from the right side of the bike - this was definitely from the left, and definitely from the fuel gauge wire hole. Not sure where the vent tube is.

I had the same issue. My first fill up after doing a ton of work to my RK, and noted leaking from the left side where wires come from the bottom. It ended up being the gasket for fuel gauge. I over filled this past weekend while doing my Ironbutt ride, and I freaked out just abit, but the dripping was coming from under the bike at my overfill spout. All good now. gasket was pretty cheap. Good luck, SF.
