How picky has entered this is beyond me. Simple question about bushing clearance. Thats all.
Was answered indirectly by Racepres in his post following mine for thanking him for his input.
What exact measurement are you looking for?
From the bushing to where???
All I've ever done is make sure the new bushing is below the lip where the keeper goes and that's it.
Never had a problem.

I'm supposing the "clearance" desired is the Running inside of Bushing vs outside of leg..
Something I have never measured on the newer [than Shovelhead] legs... too easy to simply replace...

Now I'm really confused...
What good does knowing the distance between the outside of the fork tube to the outside of the lower leg do for you????????????

LOL
I know I am not good at explaining!!! Running Clearance... you know.. inside of Bushing to outside of Tube [Leg, Not Lower leg]

No... If there was no Clearance... it would not Slide/operate.. the seal keeps the minor leaks [the kind expected from a proper running clearance] from being a problem... Bushings are a very common item...and there usually is a spec for clearance... just like Valve Guides ya know!!!
Some Parts are much more of a critical fit than others...

So what you're talking about millionths of an inch???
FWIW I think a closer analogy would be windshield wipers on a wind shield. JMO

Well... however you need to look at it... I do Know that running a bushing too tight in an Ironhead or certainly, a Shovel/Evo Cam cover, is Not a good idea..much like a too close Valve Guide... BTDT
One to two Thou... I like 1.5, looser on Exhaust!!!
