I think that may be a 39mm front end... but... certainly need to Know Exactly what you actually have... far as I know showa makes them all since the early 35mm....excepting the first ones which were Kayaba...
I know the Showa 41mm has changed thru the years... I also Know that by the '90's the "Bushing" is so Inexpensive, and so easy to Change, that I would Just replace if I was concerned..
I thought the Clearances were in the Service manual..certainly was for the early ones... I will look..

Not in service manual, been that route with a dealer. Service writer gal embarrassed herself with that.
To top that off, I was lead to a older service tech for an answer. His response was "we never check em ,just put in new ones and send it out". Then he added," never had one come back".
Really? Think this thru.
Hence my inquiry.
Absolutely believe the old tech... the way our shop did it also... Long as one utilizes Known Quality parts, not Chiwanese cheap crap... New is Good... Like i said... so easy to do on the New ones... it is knda silly to worry or wonder...
BTW I am still looking for my original Shovelhead service manual for FLH front end info... certainly should be the same... tho the early ones were decidedly not Fun to Replace...hence the Measurement..
"Silly to worry or wonder." Interesting that this would not be a concern. Thanks for your input.
OK... Buy new Quality H-D Bushings and do the measurements for us... Then... install the new bushings and go!!!!
If I still had Bore Micrometers... I would have already done that, as I have a New set of bushings in Stock..
All I can locate from the past with Pans/Shovels is, min a thou... and Absolute max 2 thou..running clearance... generally measured at the thrust Face, as that is where loading Occurs..[Top, front] on the Upper bushing.. Lower Bushing???? I guess by Feel, or simply replace...... Have fun.
I suspect one could even cheap out and rotate the bushing[s] 90 degrees on the newer ones...

OK, what is your interest exactly? Are you rebuilding a set of forks, or just curious? You ask a simple question, then get picky with some of your subsequent comments, so help us to help you!
How picky has entered this is beyond me.
Simple question about bushing clearance. Thats all.
Was answered indirectly by Racepres in his post following mine for thanking him for his input.
