1993 FLHTC wagon wheel swap ??
I have a 1993 Electra Glide Classic 90th anniversary and, I found a great deal on a set of wagon wheels with new rubber on them.
The wagon wheels I can only assume they came off a 2000 and, newer bike though the guy I purchased them from had bought them from someone else for a different swap of his own.
My question today is has anyone done a wheel swap with newer ones and, what are the problems I am going to run into ?
Fairly positive it is not a simple change but, The wheels are in great shape and the price was right.
Or perhaps this has been discussed thoroughly and someone could point me to the correct thread.
Thanks
Gilbert
The wheel swap has indeed been done and discussed. I have the wagon wheels on my '98 Night Glide. I used the opportunity to upgrade the front brakes with '08 sliders and Brembo calipers. I had to have the axle machined and adapt the speedo thingy. New rotors.
I am now in the process of upgrading the swingarm. I replaced some bushings and am now getting ready to install wheel bearings for a 1" rear axle along with an '08 Brembo caliper. My wagon wheels are powder coated. Lots of work and parts, but now I don't have to be concerned with a cracked swingarm, or the anemic EVO brakes.
Do a search here in EVO for wheel swap and swingarm upgrade. Lots to read. Lots of help here.
I love reading thorough the wealth of knowledge here.
Typically I am like most guys and, figure things out on my own but, with so many unknowns and, it is still the middle of summer I didn't want to waste precious riding time by re inventing the wheel so to speak.
