1990 speedometer mileage and trip meter stopped working. Speedometer itself sticks occasionally. Is it shot or what can i check? 32000 miles on the clock. Thanks.

Ok. Bought this bike last November with 28000 miles. Bike overall was in good condition but had sat awhile do to owners death. I cleaned carb and breakes and adjusted belts snd primary. The speedometer worked fine until the cable broke. Replaced cable and drive unit and it worked for a little while and broke cable again. This time just new cable and a good lube. Fine again for awhile then stopped. Not csble but just a burr or somerhing stopped the cable from turning. Well finally after thinking I'd fixed it it stopped on the way from an Indiana ride. The needle would stop snd mileage would to. Get home and relube and the needle moves but trip and milegae have stopped completely.
