Default Bottom end breathing

Hello All,
I can't keep track of how may questions I got answered here. Here's another one.

I had an odd thing on my 98 evo wideglide before and after top end rebuild.

Accelerating the bike hard, it will give me what feels like a restriction in smooth power. At 100k+ miles with leaking base gaskets I decided to upgrade anyways.

So, I have a new top end, stage one from hillside Cycles. New Axtell 85ci cylendars and pistons matched up coordinated with hillside. New Johnson lifters, new Dynatek ignition.. not in cone.. plug in style. Mikuni 42 tuned to hillside specs.
The rods had no play, the cam had barely noticeable wear.
So, I will get a feeling of maybe too much pressure on bottom end? Many times it's fast and perfectly smooth and other times it can feel like the bottom end is full of oil.
I do have a oil leak now I can't get rid of. Leaked at a pushrod tube at tappet block which when I fixed and now it has the oil weep at tappet block base instead.

Does anyone think I have a breather timing problem and if so would a S&S reed breather fix it.

Carb doesn't sputter or backfire.
Thanks

If the base was full of oil it should be spitting oil out of breathers in the heads, sounds like to me a fuel delivery problem or maybe a timing advance problem, does your bike have a voes switch?

What cam you running in that and what's the compression. What did Scott set the static compression to? Also, what exhaust..?

Ev27 cam
i did the install, not a professional mechanic, amateur bolt on guy.
Set the timing by following new ignition instructions.

It has a VOES but I could test... Advise how?

I put new tappet blocks and lifters in... Followed steps for proper adjustment.
I should recheck dip switches on ignition, i can't remember if set for stock or modified... Would this work be considered modified enough?

That cam doesn't come on till about 2800 rpm.. And if you didn't have the compression bumped up, it will be a bit of a dog down low... I don't think the breather is off.. if you set the ignition by the directions you should be ok.. including the voes..

The violet wire that you connected to your VOES switch at idle will ground advancing your ignition timing to full advance.. if you disconnect the violet wire at idle it will unground the VOES and will let the timing return to idle speed advance which if the base timing is set properly will be roughly 8 to 10* at idle and when you disconnect the violet wire you will physically hear the rpm's go down.. does that answer your question..

Right now, I don't know compression ratio. It's the Axtell 85 kit with flat top pistons. I passed info to hillside and said make it all work please.
I'm in Maine and did the install work myself so no taking to Scott.

Here’s the service manual inspection procedure. Good luck!
