Please do find a reliable shop and have a long chat, you'll find a lot of what's been passed on in here echoed if they are worthwhile. Do yourself a favor and try to find a rear section for that frame before you get much deeper into the planning part, it'll be educational trust me.

Good luck whatever you do.

As long as your seat isn't hard mounted to the frame, it's not that big of a deal.

Custom frame vs modified stock? I'll just echo what's already been said:

- A Dyna frame (really, any rubber mount frame) isn't a good starting point for this. Going to be all sorts of trouble. Dump the Dyna and get either a Sportster (one of the older ones, before the rubber engine mounting) or an Evo Softail and your life will get a whole lot easier.

- The whole "get it titled" stuff is all about your jurisdiction. Nebraska is friendly on that front. If your state isn't, that's a problem.

- Insurance is less of a bother, assuming you can live with liability only. Trying to get full coverage on your $75k "custom build" might be tough, but basic liability shouldn't be.

- Resale value? Forget it. Whatever you end up with will never be worth more than the Dyna you are starting with is worth right now, so I wouldn't sweat it. A project like this is all about setting money on fire because you want to, not because you expect any of those dollars to ever find their way back to you.
Agree With Twizted, and of course Omaha...
IMO this is the very Best advice anyone has presented.. But... Go Ahead...Dyna's don't cost Much, and Drivetrains are getting Expensive..
Maybe it will get Like FXR's... more and more being "butchered" so Original is Going Up, in Value!!! Good News for those who Have One...
