Ok so in the process of rewiring this 84 fxrs with points ignition and i am using a push button start and toggle switch for the kill switch. How is the coil wired and where do i need to tie the toggle switch to kill the power? Thought i had it but when testing, flipped the switch to the "on" position and motor started cranking, but no spark. Does it (toggle switch) need to be between the circuit breakers and the key ignition switch or between coil and start button? Does wire from points go to pos or neg side? How does coil get power? I have the service manual but its pretty vague and wiring diagram is only in black and white... thanks foy any info yall have.
Also, looking for ideas on stripping and lining a 35 year old tank or maybe where to get a tank that doesn't cost $1000. Thanks again guys
The only question mark I have is the ignition switch. It looks like the diagram shows an ignition switch similar to a car ignition switch where you turn the key to activate the starter, yours will be different with the button start.
Please correct me if I am wrong. It looks like the circuit (Highlighted in yellow) from the battery to the starter relay has no short circuit protection?
Would this be a better option?

Yes...good catch, the wire that supplies power to terminal 30 on the starter relay should be connected to the silver terminal, I goofed the drawing...
The wire between the starter solenoid and the copper stud on the main breaker will be unprotected. The only way to protect this wire would be to put a fusible link on the battery post (Like the old bikes had).
Here`s a better sketch...I think..

thanks! This thing has ended up being a total tear down and go through. Had it for a few years now and its been nothing but problems. Its taking way longer than expected but hopefully it turns out the way I'm envisioning. Thanks guys
