Default Starter install

Am putting new starter on my 98 flstc and before I put it all back together can I roll the engine over without primary and oil tank on to check starter works and everything working right? Don.t want to fire it up!!!

SO you have the oil tank out and the outer primary off? If this is correct, You will need to re-install the outer primary because it supports the starter jack shaft... If you want to make sure it's all working good I would first disconnect the white wire from the coil just to be safe.. Then you can crank it as much as you want but don't crank more than 30 seconds...
