Years ago when I got my first "Dresser" I hated the smaller back tire. I was asking this same question in a bike shop.
Shop owner says "If these bikes handled any better having a wide rear tire/wheel Harley would of put them on themselves."

I have a 97 RK. I can't see anything wider than thin 160 unless you cut into the frame. I've seen FXRs with frame rails split in half to accomodate a wider fender.

I'm still on a 130. I might play with a 150 someday. I tend to like a bit of cleance to work with.

The 97 has the old primary drive system with steel basket. The 98 has the updated primary with aluminum one. Curious to what you are doing with yours.

Before you go ***** deep in body mods you might wanna investigate whether or not a 124" will actually boil the 150mm rear tire. I think you're overestimating what it's capable of.

It kinda sounds like for all the modifications you want to do it might be easer to start with a custom frame?

Do you really need three threads sprinkled around the forum for this same question?

Keep asking the same question over and over til you get the answer you want to hear. Yeah, that's the ticket.

A 160 would be better than a 150. Would that just require a new fender??? I'd settle for a 160 if I could make it work with a new fender...though I was shooting for a 180.

Mine has the old steel basket as well. The bike is completely torn down and ready for powder coat and paint. I'm putting a 124" S&S in it with a Baker OD6. I'm replacing the suspension and brakes (6 piston). I'm switching over to a chain drive. I'm putting a D&D Boarzilla exhaust on her as well. She'll have a thermostatic oil cooler, new polyurethane motor mounts, etc, etc, etc as well. I'm also blacking everything out...ALL of the chrome on the bike is getting powder coated, except for a few accents here and there.

You can run a 150 on yours'. That's what I'm running now and I ride her hard...no clearance issues whatsoever.

I'm running a 150 now, with the stock pulley, but I'm switching over to a chain drive, simply b/c I don't want to be stuck on the side of the road with a broken belt, having to pull the primary. This new motor should be putting out 135-140 hp.

Would you mind expounding? I'm already into my build so I'd really appreciate your thoughts!
