Thanks all, this pretty well answers my questions. I am making changes on my new to me '91 Ultra including converting to as many LED lamps as possible.
So I completed this mod using FreedomRiders diagram is post #3 - thanks for that bro.
No splicing or cutting of wires tho.
My '91 has no fuses - just breakers. So I simply picked up power from the output side of the "lights" breaker straight to the "Spot" switch. Perfect. Nice solder and shrink tube jumper, looks factory. The only problem was prying the spot switch out of the dash. Those buggers are in there.....
Learn something new everyday. I wonder what the logic of that is.
The same logic that requires aux lighting on some vehicles to be covered when the vehicle is on a public road, too many people out there have no idea about blinding oncoming traffic.
Ride in front of a bike with that setup, low beam and driving lights, about like high beam. People I've been around just say they can see better and just go high beam. It's one of those self important things.
i just ran power from the accessory pole on the main switch (see pic). does anyone know if regular incandescent bulbs will draw too much amperage to fry the switch? i was going to run a relay straight to the battery but it seems ok for now but is on my list.
