Have you tried (temporarily) running the front motor mount bolt 'looser' than the recommended 35 to 45 ft/lbs to further isolate the frame? Easy test...Come to think of it, Who's front motor mount is it? The early stock last forever but take hundreds of miles to break in.
I've got a harley mount up front. The 79D mount I think. I have a kinetic structures mount, also. I recently swapped them to see if that made any difference. The harley mount is worse but not by much. All of the parts relating to the mounts (isolators, links, etc) are oem hd and less than a year old. I haven't run it loose, but If I remove the bolt from the front mount, the vibes go away. I don't know if that means anything. I'm guessing not.
A good impact on the compensator nut may crank it over to start, just trying to come up with ways were you can isolate some things instead of throwing parts at her

I appreciate the effort! I wish I had a way to start it without the chain, but I don't think I do. I don't believe its internal to the engine, because it goes away.

Haven't you just found the problem? And mine was the 79-D as well. How many miles on it so far?
just the hub. I wanted to get a look at the plates and discs. My first time using the spring compressor, I broke the hub and pressure plate. I replaced them and put a new bearing in the hub.

What does that mean? Without the bolt, I figure the engine is free to shake without transferring it to the frame. I don't know how many miles are on it. Maybe a few thousand. I had it on the bike before the engine rebuild.

If its got a few thousand miles it's certainly broken in by now. On mine, I ran that bolt at (maybe 20 lbs/ft) until my new 79-D mount broke in enough for me to tolerate my vibration problem.
