Default 1998 Road King EFI 80 EVO engine upgrade?

i have a 1998 road king what can i do to the engine. i will need to change some gaskets sometime and might as well upgrade while I'm taking it apart. what "kit" bolts up to this case that is reliable if any? i mean more cubic inches is never bad right?

Default i also had this.. copied from my intro post.

I'm have a idle problem now and its coded 14 for engine temp sensor. its on order and coming soon. as the bike was down i ordered a 21 inch front wheel and 16 in apes to put on it. i have added those over the weekend with about 36 man hours of labor. 3 tossed wrenches. 5 kicked boxes. 4 stripped bolts/nuts and uncountable number of obscenities'(hope that is spelled right \ cuss words) and plenty o beer . i also have a thread problem on the gas tank but the tap is on order too.

My 98 Flhrci was a mistreated mess when i got it. I feel like just getting back to around stock performance was a win. I did do some preventative stuff along the way.
2003 gearset in tranny, quiet and built in anti-overshift, new shift spring
new Cam bearing with EV13 cam
Quickie pushrods [would stick with solids, rockers not THAT hard to romove)
s&s lifters
Reed-type breather valve (scratched up bore)
new umbrella valves and rocker gaskets
quieter later exhaust
ETS
Cam sensor (without anti-tip)
Compensating sprocket (little wear in spring pack)
you get the idea, take care of all the wear items and the stuff that sucked when new, SEAL UP the intake and exhaust fully, before considering a built up engine...
be a shame to start without a solid baseline before adding factors to the tume.
Then again i am getting old, my 80" seems really fun to me (spent 10 years riding this 74" chopper 4 speed, so 80" 5 speed with an actual seat seemed logical, ha!)

What thread problem on tank? The fuel fitting are very 'special" in the tank, check valves threaded into (within) the threaded holes, above the line fittings when installed

the return line is cross threading. could be my own doing but i did not want to go all the way in with it feeling strange. i ordered a tap and die set to get a better feel of whats going on.

For clarity I am guessing that you have a 1998 Road King Classic and not a regular Road King.
Since you mention a temp sensor and a return line (guessing fuel line) then you must have a Road King Classic.
The Road King Classic had fuel injection from Magneti Marelli. Harley went to delpi in 2000 or 2001 for touring.
The two threaded bungs in the fuel tank can easily become cross threaded at fuel connection. Line should be threaded by hand.
The bung is at a slight angle. Forcing level will cause cross threading.
If you take a nail with a large round thin head (sometimes you have to grind nail head disc to make it thinner).
Work head(disc part) slowly from inside to outside then all should be well unless you had forced the situation.
You do not want to create threads...you want to repair (align threads).
People sometimes think the factory fuel lines are repairable when they experience a leak but the factory lines are not serviceable and will leak at swivel after many years especially if someone forces a line rotation during tank removal.
Goodridge makes a good alternative the HDFL005.

I had to work on my tank and after removal i found a check valve loose in the threaded hole. This is a RARE outlet check valve i am hoarding , i thought mine was in trouble but made it work. Simple thin stock tool to install using the little notches.

Used a thread chaser and a die fixed the damaged start to the tread holes and got them back together. No leaks yet... hope it stays that way. I'm going to order the aftermarket lines and be ready to go.. where did you get the incert piece. I had to reinstall one of mine. I should order those too.
