1998 Road King EFI 80 EVO engine upgrade?
2003 gearset in tranny, quiet and built in anti-overshift, new shift spring
new Cam bearing with EV13 cam
Quickie pushrods [would stick with solids, rockers not THAT hard to romove)
s&s lifters
Reed-type breather valve (scratched up bore)
new umbrella valves and rocker gaskets
quieter later exhaust
ETS
Cam sensor (without anti-tip)
Compensating sprocket (little wear in spring pack)
you get the idea, take care of all the wear items and the stuff that sucked when new, SEAL UP the intake and exhaust fully, before considering a built up engine...
be a shame to start without a solid baseline before adding factors to the tume.
Then again i am getting old, my 80" seems really fun to me (spent 10 years riding this 74" chopper 4 speed, so 80" 5 speed with an actual seat seemed logical, ha!)
Since you mention a temp sensor and a return line (guessing fuel line) then you must have a Road King Classic.
The Road King Classic had fuel injection from Magneti Marelli. Harley went to delpi in 2000 or 2001 for touring.
The two threaded bungs in the fuel tank can easily become cross threaded at fuel connection. Line should be threaded by hand.
The bung is at a slight angle. Forcing level will cause cross threading.
If you take a nail with a large round thin head (sometimes you have to grind nail head disc to make it thinner).
Work head(disc part) slowly from inside to outside then all should be well unless you had forced the situation.
You do not want to create threads...you want to repair (align threads).
People sometimes think the factory fuel lines are repairable when they experience a leak but the factory lines are not serviceable and will leak at swivel after many years especially if someone forces a line rotation during tank removal.
Goodridge makes a good alternative the HDFL005.
