Default CV 44mm replacement

I have a CV 44mm carb on my 1998 EVO that needs to be replaced. I have been researching and it looks like the Mikuni 42mm with my engine mods will work best. Here is my current EVO specs:1998 EVO

EV59 CAM
Valve Spring Kit
Taper-lite adjustable push rods
KB266 .005 .200 Dome 10.5:1 pistons
44mm carb jets: Main - 200, Slow – 48 ,spring 220/290
Intake manifold SE
Thoughts?

Thoughts? Rebuild the 44mm CV. Nothing wrong with those carburetors.

Why introduce new issues in tuning?

My FXRS has a Mikuni knockoff and my FLCTU an S&S.....both very decent really and have their uses....but you can certainly rebuild your CV.....and you can even get Chinese knockoffs on Ebay for 60 dollars and they are properly jetted to stock...and bolt right on...one of a few cheap Chinese things that actually does what it's supposed to do. I will say the Chinese version doesn't come with a cruise control throttle bellcrank...just has a plain one....but I doubt very many of those old cable operated cruise controls even work anymore. I stripped the one my FLTCU off since there was no saving it...

That would be great but HD never made a rebuild kit for that carb

HD has never offered a "rebuild kit" for any factory carburetor. But they sell the individual pieces and all the parts needed for a rebuild are available.

The only parts that will not interchange between the 40mm and 44mm are the jet needle, diaphragm slide and spring (but they are available from dealer) Or you can get an aftermarket "kit" for a Harley 40mm CV and you're good to go.

Looking again, there a few more parts that will not interchange, but nothing that you "should" need for a good cleaning and refresh. Here's a parts list. The only things that differ between the 40mm and 44mm will have a part # suffix of -99 or -00
