I have a question about the bolt pattern on the evo moters? My bike is a 1992 Harley Davidson ultra classic Electra glide flhtcu,With about 125000 miles on it. I wanna rebuild it, but I don’t wanna be down to long. I have a lead on a 1998 dyna wide glide with a evo moter in it. Will the moter fit in my 92 setup? Are the bolt pattern the same on all evo moters. Front mount, primary, and tranny mount.
Can't answer your specific question, but I do know the way the transmission mounts to the engine is what needs to be considered. Different models and years have different attachment of the trans to the engine. So this needs to be correct to your year/model.
Evo engines are same. There were several changes (top breather being one) and changes to cases and bearings but all the same motor. Just the stuff that bolts to it changed.
I’m using my same tranny and primary from the 92. So I should be fine right. The mounting holes all look the same. I talked to two Harley dealers and the said it wouldn’t work. And I talked to two people that know evo moters pretty well and they said it should work. Just the breathing system is different. It’s just if I get this moter of eBay I won’t be able to return it.
I have a '96 Fatboy (top breather) and dropped a '90 Evo (bottom breather) in it. The mounting should be the same for all Evo engines, but if you're going from a bottom breather to a top breather you will need to change your intake setup or bypass the oil mist elsewhere as there is no exit from the case
All the big stuff should line up, but you'll have a few fiddles to deal with.
The breather, as mentioned, will require some massage if you're keeping your current intake. Your 92 has the oil filter up under the rear fender, right? The '98 will have the front mount version, so a little more massage needed there.
My oil filter is up front. . It’s a head breather and case breather. Has screaming eagle heads on it. So I have the dual lines coming down into a filter.

I would trust the folks on this forum before I trust people at the Harley dealer. I dont have much faith in them. My 2 cents.
